Caged

Bars on my windows.
Bars on my doorway,
Put them up ourselves.
Keep us safe, keeping our
Troubles at bay.

Safe in our homes we have
Become imprisoned.

Who imprisoned us?
Did we do it?
We can’t blame those
Who would invade our
Fortress, our home.

Because they too are imprisoned.

Who imprisoned us?
Did ‘The Man’ cage us?
Well, if he did, why is he sittin’
In the cage next door.
We are a society,
a world caged.
Fear may be our Keeper,
But we still hold the Key.

Learning how to be a better human being through poetry, prose and my journal. Still working on a better life in San Diego, CA..... Truth is, I am just another human among eight billion other folks on planet Earth. I've been told that my poetry is dark. I practice poetry.
